In 1983, Andy Halsey and a talented group of sailmakers purchased the Van Zandt sail loft in Old Mystic, CT, USA. Their mission was to create the best racing and cruising sails with a special emphasis on diligent and personal customer service. The local market embraced the personal service and the grand prix market took note quite quickly.

Over the past 20 years, reinforced by a partnership with Lidgard Sailmakers of New Zealand, the Mystic loft continues to succeed in all venues of sailing including: America's Cup, Volvo Ocean Race, The Race, and especially local series.
